pronto.stream is generally available. This page covers data reuse and licensing terms.

Data Licensing

The wire as a whole carries no blanket open licence. Pronto aggregates sources under differing terms, so there is no single grant that covers all of it. Anything you plan to redistribute must be checked against the licence of the source it came from, including CC-BY-SA terms and syndicated text where copyright its publisher applies.

Every source in the catalogue permits commercial use. NonCommercial licences are not carried at all, and that is enforced rather than intended: a source under a NonCommercial licence cannot enter the catalogue. Where a measure is only published NonCommercially at its original home, we carry an equivalent series that is not — health indicators, for example, come from the World Bank's World Development Indicators under CC BY 4.0, sourced by the World Bank from WHO and UNICEF directly.

Every source endpoint records its own licence, and the list_data_sources MCP tool returns that licence per source. That tool is the authoritative, live answer — an agent can and should call it before reusing anything.

CC-BY-SA	ShareAlike: anything you derive from these must be released under the same licence. Check before mixing them into a closed product.
MPL-2.0	File-level copyleft, carried by one source. Modifications to the covered files stay under MPL.
RSS syndication	Permission to syndicate headlines and summaries. It is not a redistribution grant, and the article text remains copyright its publisher.
Unverified	A small number of sources are tagged for verification and carry no confirmed licence. Treat them as all rights reserved until they are resolved.

Attribution Guidelines

Where a source requires attribution, attribute that source, not Pronto. Pronto is the transport and the normalisation layer; it does not become the author of the data by carrying it. Citing pronto.stream in addition is welcome but does not substitute for the upstream credit.

Reference Data Carried Inside the Service

Two reference datasets are compiled into pronto itself rather than fetched per request:

GeoNames — populated places, countries and administrative regions, used to name a coordinate and to resolve a place named in a headline. Licensed CC BY 4.0 by geonames.org.
OurAirports — the ICAO station register behind aviation weather rows. Released by OurAirports to the public domain.

Derived Indicator Products

The fusion products are our computation over those inputs. Each one states its formula citation and the source signals it was derived from, and the inputs keep their own terms — a derived value computed from a ShareAlike source does not launder that source's licence.

Coverage Statistics & Benchmarks

The aggregate coverage metrics we author ourselves — signal counts, country and domain coverage, catalog reach, token-savings benchmarks, published at /seo/stats.html and /seo/stats.json — are free to quote and cite with attribution to pronto.stream.
